Finally! Another Pick!…

Hi everyone!

It’s been far too long since my last post, and you can bet I’ve missed it!   Sadly, if I am not posting a “Pick,” I am not reading anything worthwhile.  But fear not!  A book has caught my interest and captured my imagination…

The Dead Girls’ Dance – The Morganville Vampires, book 2
by Rachel Caine

If you remember my previous “Pick” for Glass Houses, the first book in the Morganville Vampires series, you know I loved it.  Well, the second one is even better!  With a fast-paced plot that will keep you franticly flipping pages and characters that you’ll bond with immediately, The Dead Girls’ Dance will not disappoint!
Claire Danvers is still a misfit in Morganville, Texas.  The only ones she seems to relate to are her gothed-out friend Eve, her dead-yet-not roommate Michael, and her new boyfriend Shane.  But when things go wrong and Shane’s life is at jeopardy, who can they turn to for help in this small town where vampires control everything – even the police?  Shane’s abusive biker dad, crazy and obsessed with slaying every last vampire, doesn’t seem a promising ally.  But can they save each other … despite the odds and regardless of the costs?

Pick up a copy and find out! Then let me know what YOU think!

Glass ghosts?…

I’ve just finished reading a new book called…

and knew I had to add it to my picks! From the author who brought you the Weather Warden series, Glass Houses is the first book in the Morganville Vampires series. It tells the story of Claire, a girl trying to survive, literally, in a college town. As if it weren’t bad enough that many of the girls at school want her dead, the town vampires are out for her blood too. But when things get dangerous, her new friends have her back. Only they aren’t who, or what, they seem…
Since when did going to college become life-threatening?

Incantation conjuration…

Alice Hoffman, who happens to be one of my favorite authors, has just released a new novel for young adults. I was enthralled, and think you will be too. It is titled…

This is a beautiful and moving story of Estrella, a Marrano, secretly hiding her Jewish heritage during the Spanish Inquisition. She lives a double life as a Catholic while her family secretly practices kabbalah – an ancient and mysterious wisdom based on Hebrew Scripture. But the story dives even deeper, exploring issues of friendship, love, loyalty and ultimately betrayal. For when Estrella’s family secret is publicly revealed, she is confronted by a kindling new love and a life-long friendship quickly turning to ash. Trust and hope are sparse in this trying time. Can she recover them before it’s too late?…

One Hot Pick…

Yes, I have yet another title to add to Loretta’s Pick…

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
